This book uses comic pages and interactive 3D models to show how 16 small houses serve their owners as small, simple, and sustainable shelters. The book uses a graphic narrative style to combine computer illustrations, videos, and interactive 3D models to show how these small houses evolved slowly to be functional footholds in their environments.

Lessons learned from these small houses can be applied to the design and construction of any home and are the basis for our companion books A (small) Home of Your Own and How a House is Built.

Living SMALL includes 2D drawings and 3D models of each house. The models are included on the CD to help readers interact and visualize these small spaces and their construction.

Short tutorials and videos show how 3D construction models are built and organized using Google SketchUp. These construction models range from simple massing studies to detailed piece-based assemblies that explain the assembly of each of the small houses.
